BREAKING: EUSA By-Election prompted by Pegado’s defection to UKIP
After a month long investigation, Edinburgh Flipside can reveal that today’s EUSA by-election is taking place due to EUSA President Briana Pegado’s defection to UKIP.
The defection has remained relatively under wraps due to the higher profile defection of MP Douglas Carswell, which has ‘coincidentally’ also triggered a by-election tomorrow, in Clacton-On-Sea.
Speaking to Flipside, a spokesperson for EUSA’s Sabbatical team said: “We didn’t have a policy for what to do when a EUSA Sabb defects to UKIP, but luckily there was an Academic Standing External Affairs Liberation Activities Schools Convenor Sub Trustee Board Committee Meeting (ASEALASCSTBCA) yesterday, which pushed the by-election trigger policy through.”
“The whole process was engaging, accessible, and democratic, and totally transparent and engaging, and it’s great to hear students’ voices being heard. Also it was engaging for students.”
Next week, the ASEALASCSTBCA plans to call a by-referendum on Scottish Independence. Students will be able to vote via a small and unresponsive link on MyEd between 3:00AM and 3.06AM, with a MyEd scheduled maintenance taking place over the final four and a half minutes.
EUSA’s go-to source for quotes, ex-president Hugh Murdoch, said “The only thing EUSA engages with is shit chat.”
