Confused Doctor Who fans disrupt Davos summit with protests against Dalek creation
The World Economic Forum meeting at Davos in Switzerland has been thrown into chaos by the arrival of large numbers of Doctor Who fans, who are concerned that the purpose of the summit is to create a new race of unstoppable metal killing machines.
“It’s terrifying to think that world leaders are attending a summit named after the Dalek’s creator, the most evil man in the known universe,” said one worried fan. When a reporter pointed out that the character in question was called Davros, not Davos, the fans retorted that non-fans were always spelling his name wrong.
“It’s obvious what they’re doing, said a man with a long scarf, floppy hat and no girlfriend. “They’re building a Dalek army to go fight in Syria. But the Daleks will turn on us! They are the superior beings, they obey no-one, and if you build even one it’ll conquer the Earth and exterminate everyone!”
“For the last time, we are NOT building Daleks at Davos,” said an exasperated David Cameron. “And neither is anyone else,” he assured reporters, while behind him Vladimir Putin shifted uneasily and looked up at the sky. In an attempt to quell the disquiet, summit organisers and Davos town officials have started to put up signs all over the town, reading
“Davos NOT Davros”
So far, it has had no effect on the protests. However, news that the summit was not about Dalek creation was disappointing for Sarah Palin, who responded by withdrawing her endorsement for it.
