EUSA endorses Stalin for Labour Leader, no-one cares
With just hours to go before the polls close, in a move that has attracted bemusement from the outside world and utter apathy from the student population, EUSA has weighed in on the Labour Leadership contest by officially endorsing Josef Stalin for Leader of the party.
In an attempt to remind students that they still exist over the summer holiday, EUSA released a 12 page manifesto explaining their reasoning for backing Comrade Stalin alongside a 10 page addendum explaining why a 4-person team is able to make political decisions for the entire 33,000 student population.
Speaking to Flipside, EUSA President Jonny Ross-Tatham stated that “Although we have a genuine appreciation of Comrade Jeremy’s work, we feel as though he doesn’t really understand what the glory days of left-wing party politics were like, having never lived in Soviet Russia. ”
When reached out to for an official response, a spokesperson for the Labour Party said that “In all honestly, we don’t expect EUSA’s declaration to have that much of an effect. Like the Labour Party itself, EUSA has ceased to have any relevance in 21st century Britain”.
The University of Edinburgh Ukrainian society spoke out against the move, claiming that it was an incredibly offensive action by EUSA, but also advocated support for Liz Kendall in the meantime.
