England cricket team enjoy another successful day of disappointing loyal fans
After months of waiting for the glorious return of test cricket to these shores, a re-jigged England team immediately got back to what they do best: disappointing scores of loyal fans who had paid inordinate sums of money to watch them play a confusing and seemingly neverending game in overcast conditions.
Within half an hour of the first day of the test against Pakistan, England had already begun to unravel in the most predictable manner imaginable, allowing their fans to wallow in that warm, familiar feeling of dashed hopes and soul-crushing disappointment.
After a long six-month wait since the hopeless Ashes defeat down under, England fans were praying for rain before lunchtime on day one against Pakistan, so they could pull out their waterproof and eat a sandwich while looking sad, as old Northern men discussed important things like the state of the wicket, and how silly Joe Root was for lazily wafting his bat at a wide one.
Not wanting to upset any loyalists, the England team bravely continued to disappoint throughout the second day of the test, dropping catches periodically, and even celebrating wickets that were overturned on review, just to let fans know that disappointing them is still this team’s number one priority.
