“Gay Rights, Paris Attacks and Star Wars All Equally Important” Claims Facebook
Following the decision to allow gay marriage in America, Facebook made it possible to add a filter to a profile picture show support.
Following the tragic Paris attacks, the same idea was harnessed to show support for France and the victims.
With just days before Star Wars is going to be released, Facebook has wisely realised that such a huge issue cannot go without a filter. Thus one may now add a lightsabre to their profile picture to show their support for the Star Wars Franchise, Disney and Lucas Arts. It is a noble gesture which has not gone un-noticed.
Many have sung their praises for the move, claiming Facebook is simply so down to earth and understands what matters to people, gay rights, solidarity in the face of terrorism and Star Wars.
A spokesperson for Facebook said, “We are so happy we could provide a means for people to express themselves. The endless statuses about how excited they are about the Star Wars film are simply not enough. So we have given them this filter, it looks kinda cool having a lightsaber near your face. No, not in any way do we think it undermines the causes our previous filters have stood in support of, Star Wars is a big deal and nerds never get to make themselves heard on the internet.”
Next Facebook has announced that there will be filters coming out to show your support of cats falling over and dogs being stupid. In addition filters both for and against bombing Syria have become a popular suggestion from many countries across the world, so Facebook will just allow both. And as part of this final new wave they have announced that there will be a filter to show support for filter coffee, which is just pretty meta.
