Performer forgets to turn up to show, audience thinks that he’s a genius
On Thursday morning, newcomer to the fringe Bobby Doddy (His real name, nope not a stage name, yes, we thought so too. Actually his real name) forgot to turn up to his performance after a wild night of drinking Buckfast in his overcrowded and overpriced hostel room. The audience, far from being upset or annoyed about Dodd’s lack of appearance, believed that it was part of his show and proceeded to spend the next hour in quiet reflection, pondering their existence and the meaning of life.
Originally billed as a comedy show attempting to provide a “unique insight into the workings of North London”, it has received critical acclaim for its deep and meaningful portrayal of the human mind, with many calling meditative mind-fuck.
Critics have almost unanimously given the show 5 stars except for one disgruntled reviewer from the Daily Mail who walked out mid-show, claiming that the content was too dark and disturbing for any white, male, middle-class human being.
Speaking to Flipside, Doddy said that “The reception I’ve got so far has been much better than I could have ever anticipated. I’m not sure whether I should even turn up for my next performances or just stay home and get the good reviews”
However, despite not actually performing, Doddy was still able to appear to for the bucket collection at the end of his show. The audience decided it was so good, that they cobbled a fiver between them in coppers and gave it to him.
