Punter goes to Fringe show after receiving flyer
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has had its foundations rocked today, after a man decided to take his wife and children to a show at the Gilded Balloon wine bar, following an informative and relaxed conversation with one of the venue’s flyerers.
E.Z. Mug, 44, from London, was reportedly on a spontaneous trip to the Scottish capital this weekend, when he happened to stumble across a Gilded Ballon employee, flyering for Joe Funny’s stand up show ‘This title includes a wanky, generic pun and a pretentious in-joke’ in the Bristo Square area.
Speaking to Flipside, Mug, a father of two, said: “We were just wandering around Edinburgh’s Old Town on Saturday in dire need of something to do. Edinburgh’s pleasant in August, but opportunities for entertainment are quite sparse, so it was a real spot of luck when we came across this man promoting comedy in Bristo Square.
“When we said we were looking for recommendations for shows to see, he said he knew a ‘really funny comedian’, with ‘lots of hilarious jokes’. It was already quite hard to turn down, but then he informed us that the show had received a 3 and a half star review in The Student’s 2009 festival fringe edition, and we really had no choice but to attend.”
