Scottish Lottery Winners Take Dream Holiday to Dumfries
A Scottish couple who won £33 million Scottish pounds in the recent lottery have decided to invest the money in the holiday of a lifetime – a long weekend on the exotic vistas of Dumfries.
The couple, David and Carol Martin, live in nearby Hawick, but had never though about branching out of their locale and venturing as far as Dumfries and Galloway, almost 60 miles away.
“Aye, we could go to Australia, or Thailand, or pretty much anywhere, and on a private jet at that, but everyone says Dumfries is just lovely and we’ve never been before”, Carol said.
“It just seems like a waste of money to go somewhere so far away and expensive when we’ve got everything we need for a great holiday on our doorstep, and now we’ve even got a bob or two to spend there! Might even treat ourselves to a wee bed and breakfast this time, suppose it’ll make a nice change from camping in the fields.” Her husband concluded.
When asked if they had any other plans for the money, the Martins said they intended to buy matching fleece-lined North Face jackets for the winter, as neither of them has bought a new coat for 26 years, as well as some real Scotch Eggs.
