Skaters of Bristo Square: Where are they now?
Following the destruction of their natural habitat, Flipside tracked down some of the displaced skaters of Bristo Square, and caught up with what they’re doing now.
Troy Mcdeeney: Troy is still skating, but has moved indoors, and can be seen skating around Edinburgh University’s union buildings. He has started a skating blog called ‘Potter-Grind’ which he claims is continually confused with a popular gay Harry Potter fan-fiction website, not that he minds the added hits. He considered changing the name to ‘KBK’ (Kings Buildings Kickflip,) but was concerned about confusion with a popular burger chain or white supremacist movement.
Deeny Mctroyed: Deeny has invented the sport of altitude skating. Every day he gets a bus to the top of the Pentland Hills, and skates all the way to the bottom of Leith docks. Not the docks, the actual water. Unsurprisingly, he died during his first day of altitude skating. May he rest in peace.
Ned Creemy-Dot: Ned gave up skating and is currently Maitre’D at the restaurant in the Balmoral Hotel. He is ‘Aye, fuckin’ miserable man’ but making ‘Aye, money’.
Todd Mcredynee: Todd moved to LA to make it as a pro-skater, but was last seen plying his trade on the niche skate-porn circuit, ‘halving pipes’ and ‘grinding rails’. Flipside does not know what that these terms mean, nor do we want to.
So that is what they are doing now. Flipside, answering the questions no one asks, or want’s to ask, or want’s to know the answers to, but we do it anyway, because it beats doing actual university work.
