Donald Trump Makes Up Fake Country “Sweden” in Immigration Attack
FLORIDA – In a campaign rally President Trump has used the example of “Sweden” as a European country struggling to cope with refugees entering the continent.
Online commentators were quick to condemn the President’s words as “fake news”, claiming the nation of Sweden does not in fact exist.
Dave Barrows, political correspondent at CNN, tweeted during President Trump’s speech, “President gone too far, creating imaginary utopian society in Scandinavia! FAKE NEWS.”
Sweden’s so-called Scandinavian neighbours also responded publicly to the President’s remarks. The Norwegian Embassy to the United States put out a press release stating, “It’s not like we talk to those guys much, anyway.” Inside the event though the President’s remarks clearly resonated with white people. An audience member said, “I must admit that I’ve never heard of Sweden before, but I trust the President that it is a place.”
Sweden was unavailable for comment.
