Working Man Laments Spending Ed Balls Day Away From Family
Where were you today? With your loved ones? Your friends? Your family? Spare a though for James Alexander, the 36 year old Marketing and Social Media Executive from Stoke-on-Trent, who is working from nine in the morning until six at night, whilst his family sit at home, miserable, awaiting his return.
It’s enough to tug at the heart strings, but Alexander’s story is similar to those of 10 million Brits who will today be braving a day at the Office, on Ed Balls Day, a time when the British public come together and indulge in our national pastime – unfairly and unremittingly ribbing someone for a fairly minor social media mistake.
“I was absolutely devastated when I found out I’d be working” said Alexander, who has a wife and two children. “I couldn’t bear to think about the family, all round the computer, looking at the various tweets from years gone by that have marked this occasion. It’s days like this when the kids are growing up that you really treasure, but duty calls.”
At the time of writing, Alexander had snuck a minor pleasure into his day by tweeting ‘James Alexander’. His Twitter following of 29 had clubbed together to give him 3 retweets.
